| Burleying | As defined in a currant issue of" SA Recreational Fishing Guide" And State Fisheries law regarding Burleying must be adhered too. | |
| Charter Boats | Refers to a boat that is being hired or utilized by a member or members to fish in. This boat is only eligible to enter in the yearly Competitions or Tournaments in the Charter Boat Category. | |
| Capture | The hooking & landing of Fish, Shark or Eagle Ray why'll adhering to all State and GFAA laws, rules and regulation for equipment and fishing for recording purposes. Refer to the current official" GFAA Australian Game fishing Journal"and to the current SA Fisheries" SA Recreational Fishing Guide". | |
| Competitions | Fishing events held for members in a nominated boundary area for a timed duration during a specific period of the year and through out the yearAs laid out by the tournament director for the yearly fishing season. | |
| Eligible Species | Are the Fish Sharks or Ray acknowledged by IGFA/GFAA or Nominated by the Game Fishing Club of SA and complying with state laws. Refer to the current SA Fisheries" SA Recreational Fishing Guide" Fishing Regulation Section. | |

| Weight Estimating Formula | A mathematical Formula used to estimate the weight of any fish or Shark that can-not be physically weighed at sea to obtain its weight. Refer to the official GFC of SA News Letter "The Pointer Year Book" rules section. | |
| G.F.A.A | Game Fishing Association of Australia This is Governing body for rules, code of ethics, club affiliations and Record keeping with in Australia. Refer to the current official "GFAA Australian Game fishing Journal". | |
| Under 25 | Refers to a boat that measure less then 25 feet in length. Is referred to as a U/25 and is only eligible to enter the yearly Competitions and or Tournaments in the U/25 Category. | |
| Over 25 | Refers to a boat that measures 25 feet in length and Over Is referred to as a O/25 and is only eligible to enter the yearly Competitions and or Tournaments in the O/25 Category. | |
| GFC of SA | Game Fishing Club of South Australia also regarded as - "The Club". | |
| IGFA | International Game Fishing Association This is governing body for rules, affiliations and Record keeping Internationally. | |
| Judging | Will be done by the protest committee and is comprised of three officials theWeight recorder ,Tournament director and the clubs Technical adviser. | |
| Land Base | The Competing in Competition /Tournaments through the yearly fishing season only from the land & or any man made structure or abutment. Refer to the current official "GFAA Australian Game fishing Journal". | |
| Line Class | Refers to type and range of fishing lines and the braking strains sanctioned for use by GFAA. | |
| Location | Is defined by a geographical location with a nominated boundary area for a timed duration during a specific period of the year and through out the year these sets of boundaries and will be determined by the Tournament Director every year. | |
| Points Scoring | Boats Scoring | Club boats can accumulate Points through the yearly season, points are acquire and accumulated by anglers that fish on that boat during the yearly competitions and attributed to that boat with in its specific class CategoryRefer to the official GFC of SA News Letter" The Pointer Year book"rules section. |
| Charter Boat Scoring | Charter boats can only accumulate Points when fishing in a Nominated Tournament, these points are acquire and accumulated by club anglers that fish on that boat and only count during that nominated Tournament these will be attributed to that boat with in the Tournaments Charter Boat CategoryAlthough Points accumulated by the anglers on the boat will count for that tournament as well as their personal yearly competition score. | |

| Teams Scoring | Team points are the points obtained by the individual team members that fish with in that team, these individual points will be attributed to an accumulated total team point score when fishing in aNominated Tournament Only. | Recording Forms | A recording Form is necessary when recording and the claiming of points for Tagging, Capture & Record points over the Yearly Competitions & Tournaments with in the GFC of SA (Recording book can be obtained from the Clubs Merchandising Officer). | |
| Equipment Regulations | All equipment used for Competing in Competitions/Tournaments must fall under the G.F.A.Aequipment regulation guide lines section. | |
| SAGFA | South Australian Game Fishing Association The South Australian ruling body that represents all of the states affiliated clubs at the national level. | |
| Safety | Boats sea worthiness insurances safety equipment must comply with state laws refer to Fishing & Safety Regulation Section in the current SA Fisheries"SA Recreational Fishing Guide" Note: Decisions made at sea are solely the responsibility of the competitor. | |
| Sked | Communications by radio of weather reports and conditions as well as a way of locating competitors position. Normally conducted by a home land base operator twice a daily morning and evening. | |
| Salt Water Fly | The use of fly fishing equipment either off the land man made structure or boat under GFAA - SWF equipment rules/regulations Refer to the current official "GFAA Australian Game fishing Journal". | |
| Tag and Release | The Hooking of a Fish Eagle Ray or Shark retrieving to the point of capture inserting anumbered data tag then releasing it unharmed following the rules of ethics and equipment for sport fishing as laid out by GFCSA/GFAA. Refer to the current official "GFAA Australian Game fishing Journal" equipment rules/regulations section. | |
| Technical Advisor | A member of the committee and an Official in judging protest matters. Also adviser for members with questions relating to rules and equipment. | |
| Time Frame | Is defined by a time period and or a start time referred to as (lines in) and finish time referred to as (lines out) during a Tournament and or a Competition. | |
| Tournaments | An event run by the club out side of the monthly fishing competitions and where it necessary to apply with an entry form to compete. | |
| Weighing | The actual physical process of weighing a Fish, Shark & or Eagle Ray for the purpose of Recording a Record, Capture or Tag & Release for point scoring. |
